Every St. Catharines house is different
The housing in this city is varied, and the electrical work has to match it. Port Dalhousie mixes heritage homes near the water with mid-century bungalows. Glenridge and Old Glenridge have established brick houses and character homes close to Brock. Martindale and Western Hill are family streets with bungalows, side-splits and two-storeys. Downtown and Haig have older homes and semis that need careful upgrades, not a one-size-fits-all approach.
That is why I look before I quote. Fuse panels, aluminum or knob-and-tube leftovers, tired receptacles and undersized services show up differently in a renovated Port Dalhousie bungalow than in a newer Martindale build. I check the panel, grounding and load against the work you actually want done, then tell you plainly what the house needs and what it does not.
What I do in St. Catharines
- Panel upgrades: 100A and 200A service changes and breaker panels sized for renovations or new equipment
- Home rewiring: safer circuits for older homes and outdated wiring
- Pot light installation: kitchens, living rooms and basements
- Security camera installation: wired cameras and doorbells with clean power and cable runs
- Level 2 EV charger installation: dedicated circuits and ESA inspection
- Outdoor lighting: driveways, entries and yards you can actually use after dark
- Smart home wiring: control-ready circuits for lighting and devices
- Small commercial and tenant fit-ups: retail and office suites
On permitted work, the ESA permit and inspection are part of my scope. You will never be left guessing who files what.
Why people call Mohawk Electric
We have been family-owned since 1979. I'm Lutron Pro certified, we hold a 5.0 rating on Google from 40 reviews, and the shop is at 331 Queenston Rd in Niagara-on-the-Lake, a short drive into St. Catharines. You deal with me, not a rotating crew of subcontractors. I keep communication simple: what the work involves, how long the power will be off, and what it costs before anything starts.
I work across the whole city, including Grantham, Merritton, Port Weller and Lakeport. The approach is the same everywhere: look first, then schedule permitted work.
