Every part of town is different
Old Town's heritage and renovated homes often need more capacity without being treated like a new subdivision build. Virgil has newer subdivisions, bungalows, townhomes and condos where EV chargers, pot lights and panel space for renovations are everyday requests. Glendale's newer homes near Niagara College have modern panels that still fill up fast once a charger, hot tub or workshop is added. Queenston and St. Davids mix historic homes with larger lots, where outdoor lighting, service location and long cable runs need a plan for that specific property.
What I do for NOTL homeowners
- Panel upgrades: fuse-to-breaker replacements, 100A and 200A service changes
- Home rewiring: safer circuits for older and partly updated homes
- Pot lights: clean installs for kitchens, living areas and basements
- Security cameras: wired systems and doorbells
- EV charger installation: Level 2 home charging done properly
- Outdoor lighting: driveways, gardens and entries
- Smart home wiring: control-ready lighting and device circuits
- Commercial and tenant fit-ups: small commercial and retail scopes
ESA permits and inspections are handled as part of permitted work. You should always know who is filing the permit before the work starts.
Why a local electrician matters
Local matters when you want someone who still picks up the phone after the inspection. Mohawk Electric has been part of this town since 1979. We hold a 5.0 rating on Google from 40 reviews and I'm Lutron Pro certified. Because the shop is on Queenston Road, booking routine work in town is simple. Utility appointments and renovation timing still set the calendar, but there is no question about whether I really cover NOTL.
Old Town and heritage properties can mean tight access, finished interiors you don't want opened up for no reason, and outdoor lighting that should suit how the house looks from the street. Rural and estate lots on the edges of town can need longer underground or exterior runs. Send photos and a wish list when you book and the visit goes faster.
Wineries, B&Bs and small hospitality spaces sometimes sit between residential and commercial rules. If that's you, tell me up front so the scope and permit are right. See commercial electrical. I also work in nearby St. Catharines and Niagara Falls.
Book a visit
Call me at 905-537-5964 or email info@mohawkelectric.ca. I answer Monday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Ask for Marc. Tell me whether you need a panel look, a lighting plan, a camera rough-in or an EV circuit, and I'll book an on-site visit and price the work from what the house actually needs.
